We remember with humble hearts those brave folks who gave themselves for their country. Out in the battle field they lost their lives for friends, loved ones and for those who they never knew, and we live in the good of the ultimate price they paid for our freedom. May we be truly thankful and never forget the cost of such liberty.
While living in the good of the freedom we enjoy at the expense of those who paid the ultimate cost for it, let us above all remember the One who gave Himself for not only for friend but for foe. When all those around cried for Him to be crucified, and there at the cross where He suffered, bled, and died as our Substitute there would have been someone just like us, representing us as if we had actually been there.
"God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5: 8
Nothing but the immeasurable love of God would be prepared to do such a thing as this! Let us be truly thankful and never forget that the precious Son of the living God laid down His life for His enemies.
Now, that's love!
